Court Appointed Special Advocate(CASA)

CASA of Ontario County provides training and supervision of volunteers to advocate for children who are abused, neglected or are at risk and assist them and their families with obtaining needed community resources and thus improve the system's treatment of this vulnerable population.

CASA volunteers are appointed by a Family Court Judge to:

  • advocate for the best interest of the child
  • gather relevant information
  • investigate important facts about the case
  • interview the parents, caseworkers, teachers, doctors, counselors, and other relevant people involved in the case
  • ask questions about how the child and parents are progressing and what the plan is for the future
  • assisting the family in obtaining services
  • advocate for the child in many aspects of his or her life such as school meetings and service plan reviews
  • Report back to the Family Court Judge in the case, and all other parties involved as to what CASA has learned during the investigation.
  • We need you to volunteer. For more information about CASA program go to www.casa.nys.org or www.nationalcasa.org
