Childhood Counseling and Intervention

Our Childhood Counseling and Intervention Program is an intensive and comprehensive family support, counseling and referral program in which Catholic Charities works with local school districts in Wayne County to provide services to children in grades K-6 and their families, as well as families with children in Pre-K.

Children are brought to the program if they exhibit problematic behavior at home or in school. After initial assessment, we use counseling, play therapy, parent skills training and other methods to improve behavior.

In appropriate circumstances, our counselors make referrals to physicians for medication evaluation or other community resources as needed. Currently, Counseling and Intervention Services are available in the Lyons, Newark, Pal-Mac, Red Creek, and Sodus school districts.
