School Based Counseling Program

Our School-based counseling program (previously known as Childhood counseling and intervention program) provides counseling services to students in grades K-5 in need throughout Wayne County. Students are referred to SBC by the school staff or their families for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to; anxiety, depression, inattention/hyperactivity, peer and family conflict, adjustment issues, behavioral issues or other problematic behavior.

The SBC team works with the student in an individual counseling session, as well as their family and school staff to best meet the needs of each individual student. Addition supports could include parent coaching, support obtaining individualized education plans within the school, or referrals for additional evaluations or medication when needed.

The counselors within the school-based counseling program are master’s level and NYS licensed in their field.
